Andre Schultz
Professional Info
Born in 1963, he started his career very soon influenced by his parents. His father was an artist and professor of art history in England where he lived and his mother was a ballet teacher.
In 1978, he started to be in charge of lighting at “Teatro Ipanema” shows, such as Paulo Moura and Rio Jazz Orchestra, Francis Hime, the Bossa Nova’s compositor Carlos Lyra and plays like
“Os 12 Trabalhos de Hercules” by Monteiro Lobato in the famous Carlos Wilson's version at theater “O Tablado.”
In 1987, came his first direction, “Antes da Explosão”, an animation film (CGA). The Film participated in Festivals, such as “Stuttgart Festival” in Germany, “Animation Festival at Espinho” Portugal, as a guest participation “Fantastic Movie Festival at Porto” Portugal and in the
“Los Angeles Animation Celebration” U.S.
At TV Globo between 1990 and 1992, Andre worked as Assistant Director in the series
"AEIO Urca", “O Portador”, “Salomé” and “Despedida de Solteiro.”
Since 1992, he has been a director in TV Globo and Globosat (cable).
He has been employed in a critical role for the second largest broadcaster in the entire world for more than twenty years, TV Globo. Andre directed several series and programs and directed one of the most popular shows in Brazil and the most popular reality show in the world, Big Brother Brazil for 12 seasons.
He has directed DVD’s for Latin Grammy winning musical artists as well as directing the broadcast of one of the most successful music festivals in the world which featured Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Timberlake, Jessie J, Alicia Keys, the "Rock in Rio Festival."
As a director in a field of multi-camera directing, sometimes 65 cameras, Andre is in charge of both the technical and creative aspects of the programs.
In the year of 2000, he created with Denise Schultz their own production unit “Schultz Productions”. In this new unit, they have produced music documentaries and TV programs.
Andre brings his experience in the visual arts to his painting.
